The young man does indeed, know what is right. Can he give in? Can he ignore his pride? Can he release himself of his will? The will that has been tempered in Times' Forge, and withstood the shame, embarrasment, and humiliation of what life has thrown at him; indeed it is an iron will that the young man has. But can he set it aside?

No, he cannot. His pride, he ignores. He's slept in rags, eaten with sticks, spent many nights going hungry, maintaining the silent vigil of guardianship that was his role, and his role alone. His pride has broken him twice, and yet his will endured. He's eaten his words, on a stained and filthy platter, and his will endured.

No, do not give in to your doubt of being the one for him, though you know it and he suspects it. Do not dwell on that thought. Instead, watch him as a mother watches her newborn. Take pleasure in his struggle, and after you've had your fill of that, watch him still. Because he is willful, you can't force him to submit, to serve like he wants to, that you deserve to be.

Instead, wait it out. Challenge him, test him, set your standards and expectations high, higher than you've set for yourself or anyone else you associate with. And watch his reactions. Watch him move to complete the obstacles. And if you get confused watching the flow of chaos within his movements and call him "mad, insane and completely devoid of rational thought," look at the results.

But do not give in to your doubt. For you should know, if you don't already, he is watching you as well. As you test, challenge and gauge him, he is testing, challenging and gauging you as well.
